February Progress Report
about 4 years ago – Sat, Feb 22, 2020 at 11:29:20 PM

It’s been a productive month. The Manufacturer and Fulfillment Center are locked it.

The production files for the Action Cards and Custom Dice have already been sent out! The main editing passes on the story deck and rule deck has been completed. They are not locked in yet, tinkering will probably take place until final delivery.

I am finalizing the box artwork now that I have templates. Which reminds me! It looks like the box will be big enough….drum roll, to fit the sleeved cards and all the games components.

There is still a considerable amount of illustrations left to do. The goal date for those to be completed is March 31st, then all production files to be delivered by April 5th. We are currently on track!

Backerkit charges for Add-ons and Shipping (which I don’t anticipate will change) will occur on March 27th.

Game Testing

On February 29th I will be hanging out with our game editor (Christian) at his taproom to play Spire’s End. I probably will not have the actual demo in time for this session. We will be most likely be using iPads. I will be there at noon. I am happy to stay until whenever.

Some of you (locals) have reached out. If you have any more questions message me. I aim to have another meet up on the 7th or 14th of March. My plan is to have the actual full prototype minus some art for Chapter 6 at that time.

I think that’s it for now! I look forward to hanging out if you can come!

Oh, quick note- "No Such Luck" is the title for card 80. Just in case you were wondering...

January Progress Report
about 4 years ago – Thu, Jan 30, 2020 at 02:44:31 AM

Hey guys!

It’s time once again for the monthly progress report. First of all, big thanks to James and Thad from Vorpal Board for having me on last night to play some Spire’s End! As always I had a blast! We played portions of Chapters 3 and 4. Check it out if you are spoiler immune!

I think you can check it out here: Twitch.tv/VorpalBoard

The game is currently chugging along on schedule. I completed the first draft of Chapter 6 right before the new year. Christian (one of the game's editors) and I have been doing weekly read-throughs of Chapters 4-6. Chapters 4 and 5 have been passed off to another editor (Erica) for her pass. We will continue to toss them back and forth until March.

Ben and I have also had weekly meetings to review the illustrations. The art for Chapters 1-4 is complete and we are 2 illustrations away from completing Chapter 5. There are about 15 illustrations left to finish the game off.

I can finally say that the card count will be 128 (that includes the Story Deck, Instruction Deck, and Ally deck). On the campaign page, I said there would be 105 Story Cards. We now have 3 additional stretch goal cards: Magic Mirror, the Mirror Card and the Vista Card. The revised Story Card total is 109. I had to add one more to finish it off- Bonus Card!

In regards to the Pledge Manager. The tentative plan is to have it close at the end of February. I will give you an update on that next month.

I would like to do a playtesting session with any interested backers. If you’re game (see what I did there?)…and live in the Los Angeles area send me a message via Kickstarter. Maybe we can set something up!

You may recognize the little guy (or glob) above if you saw the Vorpal Board play through last night. The word of the month is "globsplosion."

Until next time!

December Update
over 4 years ago – Tue, Dec 24, 2019 at 01:46:02 AM

Happy Holidays & Happy New Year!

I wanted to give everyone a brief update on the past month. I finished up the writing for chapters 4-5. They are ready to send out for another round of edits. Now onto the final chapter!

Ben’s been hard at work on the illustrations, and 95% of them are done chapters 1-4. What’s exciting is the work on the final boss! It’s looking great. That should be wrapped up by the new year. Since the last image I shared (Magic Mirror), we have finalized more than 15 illustrations.

The goal is to have the writing done by the 1st of January, and the bulk of the illustrations done by the end of January. Then the transition to editing and encounter play-testing begins. So far development is on schedule and I am looking forward to wrapping up the writing.

I don’t want to show too much in terms of card art, but I gotta show something right? Here's a bit from chapter 4, with my reference sketch below (for entertainment value). I can’t wait to share more!

See you in 2020!
